Christmas at the museum
Vitlycke museum offers some extra opening days the 2-3 December, 9-10 December and the 16-17 December. The museum shop will be open 10:00-16:00 during this time, and perhaps you will find a unique Christmas gift for someone you love. On the 9-10 of December were hosting a Christmas market. There will be handmade crafts and the craftspeople will show their skills in the Bronze Age farm. In the longhouse you can listen to cozy winter themed stories, perfect for children. And of course, some Christmas crafting! And an exciting newcomer for this year: A ginger bread house competition!
Free entrance and open for all at 10:00-16:00
On the 9-10 December there will be extra activities and a Christmas market.
Gingerbread house competition
Our museum building celebrates 25 years this year. To celebrate our fantastic building, we want you to contribute with your own gingerbread house. Your gingerbread house will be exhibited in the auditorium, during our Christmas market on the 9-10 December and valued in the competition. The winner will be announced on the following Monday, the 11 December.
When: Hand in your contribution to the competition on either the 2-3 December or 9-10 December.
Where: Vitlycke museum
How: Look at your corresponding theme for the competition and build a wonderful gingerbread house. Hand in your contribution to the museum on the 2-3 December 10:00-16:00 or 9-10 December 10:00-11:00. The winner will be announced the following Monday, the 11 December.
Theme for adults:
This year Vitlycke museum building celebrates 25 years. We want you to bring out your creativity and baking skills and build a gingerbread museum of your dreams.
Rules:
- All the building materials must be edible.
- The measurement can not exceed 90cm (length) x60cm (width).
- Your contribution to the competition must be submitted during the times specified above.
- Collaboration is allowed. Build your house with your family, friends or perhaps your colleagues at work?
Theme for children
What do you think of when you hear Vitlycke museum? Bring out your creativty and make something inspired by our museum or the Bronze Age. Maybe you want to make rock carvings, or why not a Bronze Age farm?

Storytelling with Tanum library (only in swedish)
9-10 December
Cozy up and listen to a talented storyteller from Tanum Library tell tales of winter by the crackling fire in the Longhouse in our Bronze Age farm. OBS! This activity will only be held in Swedish.
- 10:30-11:00 – Storytelling for kids ages 1-3 years old.
- 11:30-12:00 Storytelling for kids ages 3-6 years old.
- 13:00-13:30 Storytelling for kids 7+ years old.
Christmas market
9-10 December 11:00-15:00
There will be handmade crafts and the craftspeople will show their skills in the Bronze Age farm. Here you can find crafts and maybe learn something new!
Christmas crafting in the museum
9-10 December
Come to the museum and make some fun Christmas crafts with us.
A perfect opportunity to create some Christmas decorations and maybe a handmade Christmas present. You are welcome to bring your crafted items home.

Rock Art Shop
Our museum shop is decorated and ready for Christmas. Perhaps it’s here that you will find that unique Christmas gift you have been looking for? In the museum shop we offer our own designed products with rock carving themes, such as our delicious chocolate bars and cozy woollen blankets, and many more. A place to find a personal gift to your loved ones or a well-deserved treat for yourself.

Café Bronze
Café Bronze will serve Christmas-inspired fika and warming coffee and tea. The café will have the same opening hours as the museum during these dates.
