Discover the World Heritage rock carvings in Tanum in a whole new way with our digital walk. Whether you're at Vitlycke Museum, relaxing at home, or in the classroom, you can travel 3,000 years back in time and explore the mysteries of the rock carvings.

Did you know that you are currently standing in the middle of a 3,000-year-old mystery?

At Vitlycke there lie hundreds of rock carvings, images and symbols that people
painstakingly pecked into the rock during the Bronze Age, as well as in the
early part of the Iron Age, between 1700 and 300 BCE.

At that time, much of the landscape here was underwater. The sea reached
15–20 metres higher than it does today, crashing against the rocks where
people patiently created these carvings.

At Vitlycke, there are over 500 rock carvings – each with its own story.
What dreams, gods, and stories are hidden in the images?

Join us on our digital walk and step straight into the fascinating world of
the Bronze Age – a time of adventure, rituals, and life by the sea.
And stay alert – you'll also get to solve exciting challenges along the way!

Are you ready to travel 3,000 years back in time?

Tourism 2.0

The digital walk was developed as part of the Interreg project Besöksnäring 2.0, led by the Svinesund Committee and Visit Østfold. The project is a cross-border
initiative aimed at strengthening the tourism industry in Dalsland and Northern
Bohuslän in Sweden, and Østfold in Norway.

Vitlycke Museum is one of three IT pilot sites in the project, where new digital
technologies and AI are being tested to enhance the visitor experience. The other
pilot sites are the church ruin in Edsleskog (Åmål Municipality) and Østfoldmuseene in Norway. The project, carried out in collaboration with RISE, aims to gather
insights and share knowledge with similar actors in Dalsland, Northern Bohuslän, and Østfold.

The walk was developed using the digital platform Wittario.
